about

‚LAVA TUBE RIDE’ is a scene from ‚Interstation’, the forthcoming album by plastiq.

The two groups—plastiq and LXMP—met for the first time in late October 2019. They got together to improvise and write music to chapter #1 of a tale about life on the Red Planet, about aboriginal Martians, human Emigrés, the Critter and earthling humans. The five musicians, all having their own mental motif of the Lava Tube Ride, have created a celebration of a song.

lyrics

I PUT ON my rusty overalls and went for one of the long walks I take at night through the breeding grounds on Olympus Mons.

I met Corey, Baba and Suez, Emigrés all. Corey wore their new overalls with small reflectors all over, that’s why I saw them first. Baba is a very well sewer. The critter radix cast its pattern shadow over them, as they were all lounging on Baba’s porch. Suez waved at me, and her waving drew a hologram of her hand in the scarce air.

„Hi, what’s up?“
„There's something I want to show you about the lava tube.“
„All right.“
„Good.“

Travelling the tube always makes me feel a little funny. But Suez is a neat driver. We passed Юрий sitting by the pressure chamber, where we momentarily reprocess liquid water. And just a chat later we arrived at the sunken plunge pool. The tube is only 1.60 meters high down there. We lit the flashlights of our transceivers.

„What do you think of that? Doesn't that beat everything?“
There were dewdrops.
